From Deborah Gordon in Jerusalem: “The New Moon was sighted from Israel this evening, Wednesday, 2 February 2022” – Sighted by 3 people in the Galilee. She goes on to say: “The photo at the top of this report was taken from our observation point in Jerusalem this evening – we did not see the new moon.” (sent from: Devorah’s Date Tree) The picture showed low-hanging clouds, with a lovely sunset just over Jerusalem below the clouds. So, no one in the Jerusalem area saw the new moon.
Therefore, because of the cloud cover blocking the new moon over Jerusalem, ADAR begins tomorrow night, Thursday, February 3rd.
It looks strongly like, this Festival year, we’ll have an Adar Bet – a second month of Adar, because the barley stage is not going to be in the aviv stage by early March.
