New Moon, New Month of Iyar, Begins Tonight

Shabbat Shalom! Happy Rosh Chodesh

I got an e-mail from a lady living in Jordan who said that Ramadan began tonight for the Arab world, even though they can’t go to the mosque because of Covid-19 lockdown. The Haj was cancelled in Mecca, the Vatican was shut down, and the Temple Mount closed. That was in just February.

The Arabs go by the sighting of the new moon to determine their new month. The month of Ramadan was proclaimed at sunset tonight over there – the 24th.

Today is the 30th day of Aviv on Yahuwah’s calendar. Therefore, by default and ancient ways, for us, tonight begins the month of Iyar.

Psalm 81:1-3: “Shout for joy to Yahuwah our strength; Raise a shout to the Elohim of Ya’cob. Lift up a song. Beat the tambourine, strum pleasant lyre and the harp. Blow the ram’s horn (shofar) at the time of the new moon.” (Rosh ha Chodesh – “the head of the month”).

Are you shouting and singing, and blowing the shofar tonight?

I was the speaker at many New Moon celebrations in various areas of East Texas. It was wonderful. Right in the middle of Tyler, or some other town, about 15 people would run outside at the sight of the new moon and blow their shofars right there surrounded by other houses. I wonder what the neighbors thought. I loved it! Then we’d have a big meal together, and sing and dance, and fellowship.

When I lived in the Middle East, each family in our group would bring a grain-cake they’d made from the Leviticus 2 recipe. Each would be offered, as a “meal offering,” with real Frankincense, on an open fire pit. Sometimes, Frankincense would be offered by itself. Then a drink offering would be poured out onto the fire. We’d pack together in an old shed while someone blew the shofar. I’m sure our neighbors were mystified at what we were doing. But the unity that it brought among us was amazing! It was a spiritual unity that could be felt – like in John 17.

As we enter Iyar, we are progressing towards Sivan and Shavu’ot. Are you counting the Omer? Fifty days from First Fruits Sunday is Shavu’ot, Feast

of Weeks.

The month of May might be very traumatic, to do with incoming space objects and debris. Governments worldwide are watching carefully and making plans. Militaries are working to protect airplanes and equipment. I don’t know exactly what it is, but I suspect it is “Comet Atlas,” that I wrote about recently in “Asteroid 1998OR2…” (under “Recent Articles” or Present Reality). It might be a combination of Asteroid 19980R2 and Comet Atlas. Both are carrying a huge debris field. If they knock out any of our satellites orbiting earth, and they fall to earth, they can do a lot more damage than impact, since they contain toxic chemicals also.

So, let’s make May a month of intense prayer, and preparation for obedience to Abba, as we prepare for His Son’s return.

Blessings, favor, peace, and love, Yedidah
